Fu Lu Shou is believed to offer those who invite them into their homes, the three prized gifts of prosperity, longevity and happiness. Fu means happy and prosperous life and he is the one who brings the gift of happiness. On his right arm is a child bearing an ingot, symbolizing the good fortune of wealth and many descendants. On his right hand is the scroll of all wisdom which symbolises high scholarship & intelligence. Lu means multiplying abundance and it is he who brings power and prosperity. The Chinese believe that power and money are two sides of the same coin and hence, he wears the hat of a high mandarin official and carries a ruyi, the sceptre of power on his right hand. The third wiseman, Shou is the bearer of longevity.
The golden peach symbolizes peace in one's old age and the Dragon staff used to fight illness caused by spirit disturbances and on the staff itself is the Wulou. Display them behind you at work, or at your main entrance.
